The official launching of the Linden Legal Aid Centre took place on June 19th, 2009 at the Christianburg Magistrate's Court Building (top floor). The theme for the event was "Focus on Children" and the program included cultural presentations by children from the community. The feature address was delivered by Madame Justice Yonette Cummings-Edwards of the Guyana Court of Appeal. Other speakers included Mrs. Felicia Linch, Consultant for the Justice Improvement Project, Mr. Teni Housty, President of the Guyana Bar Association, Mrs. Sandra Kertzious, President of the Guyana Association of Women Lawyers and Mr. Mortimer Mingo, Regional Chairman of Region #10 Regional Democratic Council. The Centre was officially declared open by Ms. Priya Manickchand, Minister of Human Services and Social Welfare.
